After some serious performance issues with the mid-2011 MacBook Pro, I decided to upgrade the spinny disk to an ssd.
I purchased a 512gb adata ssd from Canada Computes for $160.
I cloned the 320gb hardrive with SuperDuper, which took a mere 13.5 hours.
It took about 5 minutes to swap the hard drives out per the cnet video guide. Pretty simple and really effective upgrade. I doubled my storage and got a much faster system.
Prolly should have done this years ago, but it seemed like SSDs were too pricy. They’ve definitely come down in price.
As an added benefit, the battery on the machine lasts longer and runs a lot cooler, about 5c cooler.
